• Health Technology Assessment (HTA).
To evaluate the efficacy, safety, effectiveness, efficiency, appropriateness and economic impli- cations, organizational, legal, ethical and social issues of medical technologies, whether pre- ventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, organizational, etc. primarily through the review and synthesis of scientific knowledge (published data).
The technologies that most often are subject to evaluation:
Pharmaceuticals / Medical devices and proce- dures / Diagnostic Techniques / Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for health.
• Quality of Healthcare Assessment.
Evaluation of the safety, effectiveness and effi- ciency of health interventions and development of instruments for measuring and for improving the quality of health care to improve access, utili- zation and appropriateness of health services by unpublished data (primary or secondary).
