Main lines of research
• Tuberculosis:
-New technologies for tuberculosis (TB) conytol: web side of the Barcelona TB Research Unit to improve control, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of TB.
-Role of diabetes in different clinical presentation and evolution of TB.
-Cohort study of TB infected contacts to determine the disease incidence at 2 and 5 years.
-TB clinical trials: to) TB Trials Consortium network of the CDCs, researching new patterns to shorten the latent Tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and TB therapy; (b) collaboration with Statens Serum Institut in a new diagnostic test for the LTBI.
• Sexually transmitted infections (STI)/ VIH:
-Use of information and communication technologies for the prevention and control of STI/HIV: a) Creation of Apps to promote sexual health both in HIV positive and HIV negative men.
b) Use of Apps to offer rapid tests outside the sanitary circuit
-Study of HIV contacts to determine the incidence among them.
