Main lines of research
• Clinical and molecular epidemiology of exocrine pancreatic cancer, chronic pancreatitis and can- cer of the extrahepatic biliary system. This line of work is fundamentally focused on two projects, the PANKRAS I and PANKRAS II studies. They are a joint collaboration with research units of the cancer research programme of IMIM, as well as with other organizations such as CSIC, Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO), University Miguel Hernandez from Elx-Alacant, the Harvard School of Public Health and the Na- tional Institute of Child Health and Human Devel- opment de USA.
• Analysis of out patient and inpatient phases of the “Symptom to treatment interval” (STI) and
its impact on survival. Early detection of breast cancer. This line of work is based on the Tumour Registry Working Group at the Hospital del Mar and on the “Breast Cancer Prevention Program” (IMAS/SCS).
• Concentrations of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the general population. This line of work is fun- damentally focused on two projects, Blood con- centrations of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the population of Catalonia, a joint collaboration with Departament de Salut of Generalitat de Catalun- ya, and Blood concentrations of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the population of Barcelona, a joint col- laboration with Agència de Salut Pública de Bar- celona.
