Highlights
The Scientific Support Unit: Epidemiology, Bioinfor- matics and Biostatistics of the Hospital 12 de Oc- tubre (Health Research Institute, imas12) carries out supporting and research’s activities of multidiscipli- nary nature which have impact on the clinical prac- tice. This group develops a training programme in biomedical research methodology and offers meth- odologic, normative and operating support to the clinical research by the Institute’s groups
The own research activity of the group in 2015 comes from primary care lines which are strate- gically settled on specific projects as the DRECE study. Our group has been focus on the project PI14/01940 Identification of a model gene(s)-di- et(s)-phenotype(s) and its association with cardio- vascular morbidity and mortality. This study, DRECE VI, has the purpose of laying down the association between genetic polymorphisms, diet and cardio- vascular disease on established groups as high and low risk in Spanish population.
We currently participate and collaborate on the pro- ject FIS PS07/0945 “Mortality prediction in heart failure patients. Development of clinical prediction rules”, published in Cardiology Journal “Role of bi- ological and non-biological factors in Congestive Heart Failure mortality: PREDICE-SCORE, a Clinical

Prediction Rule”. This project is being validating, therefore we have developed the protocol, CRF (Case Record Form) and informed consent for the validation of PRECIDE Score: Clinical Prediction Rule of a year mortality, in patients with a first episode of heart failure. During 2015 it has been carried out a recruitment and a data recollection for its validation.
Our Unit belongs to the network infrastructure SCReN (Spanish Clinical Research Network). It has developed its work of recover, promotion, dissemi- nation and support to the independent clinical trials. In 2015, we have worked actively on the elaboration of the data management of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and statistic’s SOP, as the “USC’s SOP about Data Reception and Management for the statistical analysis with scientific aims”.
