Highlights
During 2016 we have obtained a new research project in competitive call that will start in 2017 under the title “Evaluation of a project for comprehensive prevention of childhood obesity in the preschool stage in Barcelona (POIBA-2nd phase)” with a duration of 3 years.
Regarding projects, currently a member of the group manages a workpackage in an European Horizon 2020 project “Tackling secondhand smoke in Europe: assessment of SHS exposure according to policies, attributable disease and economic burden, and impact of interventions for reducing the exposure”. In addition, three members of the group are PI of the following research projects: two health research projects from ISCIII: “Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke in children under 12 years: prevalence and measurement of markers in homes and vehicles” and “Influence of social determinants, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing and use of unconventional therapies in the development of breast cancer in a cohort of women diagnosed in Barcelona”, and one project financed by Plan Nacional sobre Drogas “Design and evaluation of the effectiveness of a selective prevention of alcohol and cannabis use in vulnerable young people at community level”.
During this year, we have read one doctoral thesis directed by a member of the group: “Overweight, obesity and health-related behaviors among adolescents in Barcelona” (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
Finally, it should be noted that the Laboratory of Public Health Agency of Barcelona led by Francesc Centrich, a member of the group, received the “Josep Trueta Plate” to sanitary merit in 2016.
